Most likely to Succeed: A movie with an innovative approach to education. Perhaps the right approach… Only time will tell.

I found this movie very interesting and I see the value in offering a different way of learning. The one thing that concerns me about going with a completely new approach to high school education is the fact that post secondary institutions are not so quick to adopt the new approaches of education exemplified in “Most Likely to Succeed”. This movie left me wondering how a student who attends High Tech High would fair if they wanted to study a traditional career (i.e. Biology, Chemistry, Medicine, Law, etcetera). I wish the movie had given us more information about the students whom chose a traditional path beyond High Tech High.

The “soft skills” learned at Hight Tech High are, without a doubt, a crucial and essential aspect of any work environment. I think there is a need to implement the type of education approach from High Tech High into all schools, without letting go of all traditional methods. This blended approach to education will benefit all students and future society as a whole. This, I’m sure, is already in the works…
